Helene M. Bumbalo has provided direct services and training to individuals and groups experiencing personal and professional transition for over 25 years. Her interest in empowering people began with a focus in graduate school where she completed a Master’s degree in counseling from the State University of New York at Buffalo. She moved through various roles and projects, including delivering direct front-line counseling and job placement services as well as middle management roles for both private and public healthcare organizations.
In 2004, she began HirePower Associates, a consulting practice focused on providing employers with tools and HR assessments for workforce management, presentations on business execution and 1:1 consulting with individuals seeking career transition. Helene is also associated with two training organizations; Lee Hecht Harrison, a global career management corporation which delivers services to Fortune 500 companies and Leadership Solutions, delivering seminars on communication, career management strategies and leadership competencies at various public and private organizations.
Helene is Adjunct Faculty at VCU in the Department of Gerontology where she teaches a course that helps Master Level students brand themselves and translate their academic learning into the pragmatic steps needed to create a career as a Gerontologist. Helene believes that everyone’s career path should be a series of challenging and interesting projects, full of braggable achievements that fit a person’s personal mission statement.
E. Ayn Welleford, PhD , received her BA in Management/Psychology from Averett College, MS in Gerontology and PhD in Developmental Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University. She has taught extensively in the areas of Lifespan Development, and Adult Development and Aging, Geropsychology, and Aging & Human Values. As an educator, researcher, and previously as a practitioner she has worked with a broad spectrum of individuals across the caregiving and long term care continuum.
As Associate Professor and Chair of VCU’s Department of Gerontology, she currently works to “Improve Elder Care through Education” through her Teaching, Scholarship, and Community Engagement. Outside of the classroom, Dr. Welleford provides community education and serves on several boards and committees. She currently serves as Chair of the Governor’s Commonwealth of Virginia Alzheimer’s and Related Disorders Commission.
Dr. Welleford is the proud recipient of the 2008 AGHE Distinguished Teacher Award.
